In cooperation with the Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces (DCAF), C SET organized a two-day international workshop. The aim of the workshop on „Governing Private Security: Perspectives on the Public/Private Divide“ was to generate insights on the so-called privatization of security . It was chaired by Professor James W. Davis and Professor Heiner Hänggi. The keynote address was given by Christophe Keckeis, Lt. Gen. (retd.), former Chief of the Swiss Armed Forces.
Based on the current state of research in the field on the "top-down" and "bottom-up" privatization of security, the workshop focused on the development of new conceptualizations and on enhancing the research agenda. The results of the conference will be published in an edited volume in 2010. Please find here the list of participants and the workshop's program.
